The House of Missionary Formation “Santa María Madre de los Pobres” (Ajofrin, Toledo – Spain) takes in young men of different nationalities who feel called by God to be Missionary Servants of the Poor TW and have discerned this vocation for a year in the mother home in Andahuaylillas (Cuzco). The young men normally spend six years in the House of Formation, during which they receive the due human, spiritual and intellectual formation.
Some of them feel called to the Priesthood, others feel called to service as Brothers, and among them both there are some who opt for the contemplative life. The human and spiritual formation is carried out in accordance with a rhythm of life that has been crystalized as a precious tradition that we wish to preserve and enhance. The spiritual formation has the Holy Eucharist as a principal axis and centre. The day peaks in two places, which are the Holy Mass in the morning and Eucharistic Adoration in the evening.
The filial and loving devotion to the Most Holy Virgin is promoted by the praying of the Holy Rosary every day, and the love of the Church is expressed by the praying of the Liturgy of the Hours by the whole community. The spiritual life is enhanced by the practice of Gregorian chant. Sports, trips out, and recreation are important moments in the life of the Seminary, to foster a Christian fraternity among all the brothers. The intellectual formation is given in the Theological Institute, well known for its seriousness and above all for its fidelity to the doctrine and tradition of the Catholic Church. The House of Formation wishes to be a workshop of saints full of silence and abnegation, where the Holy Spirit forms hearts prepared to sacrifice themselves for the salvation of many, especially of the poor.
