Sr. María Rocío del Pilar is installed as local superior

JUN 26, 2026

Sr. María Rocío del Pilar—who joined the MSP Sisters community in Cusco at the age of 14 and now celebrates 27 years of consecrated life—has assumed the role of local superior of Casa Santa María, the motherhouse of the MSP Sisters. The event began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist offered for her ministry and the mission she is now undertaking. Following the liturgy, the installation ceremony took place in the chapter room. After the singing of the Veni Creator, Sr. María Rocío made her profession of faith and pledged to guide the community with a spirit of service and fidelity to the charism.

The community, comprising 15 Sisters, also renewed its commitment to obedience, communion, and prayer, expressing its readiness to collaborate fraternally in the entrusted mission.

The ceremony was presided over by the Superior General, Sr. María Sara, who emphasized the importance of living out religious consecration faithfully by strengthening prayer life, fraternity, and obedience. She also announced the resumption of a practice of great significance to the community—a day of fraternity for all stages of formation and, in particular, for professed Sisters. This gathering will take place every Monday, offering an opportunity to share, strengthen community life, and renew bonds of fraternity.

Casa Santa María, the motherhouse of the MSP Sisters, is dedicated to the formation of candidates across various stages (aspirancy, postulancy, novitiate, and juniorate). Additionally, this community oversees the Saint Teresa of Jesus Home, the Saint Agnes Student Residence, the Saint Maria Goretti School, the MSP Lay Associates, and the Missionary Childhood group at the parish.

Casa Santa María also serves as a meeting place for all MSP Sisters; from there, they are sent to the various communities where they carry out their evangelizing mission—locations that include Lima, Punacancha, Cusibamba, Rumichaca, Ilo, and Mexico.

May the Holy Spirit continue to enlighten our superiors so that they may keep guiding the Congregation for the greater glory of God and the salvation of many souls.

We Sisters give thanks to God for the gift of fraternity and entrust this new mission to the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
